I'm a Chicago girl. Sometimes I try to deny my love for this place, but the music is just so good.... Here's some of my favorites (click on the pics to check them out on Myspace):
Simplistic Urge

I'm not going to deny it, I live for these guys, and you should, too. =) To quote them, their music is 'slowly bridging the gap between pop and hardcore'. Therefore, they define their sound as 'melodicore'. And it's awesome. I'm not joking, these guys absolutely mean the world to me! They're good to their friends and fans and they work their asses off! Check them out at their Myspace, and even better, check out a show if you can!
The Fold

They're signed to Tooth & Nail and have toured with the awesome likes of Anberlin, Sullivan, and MxPx, just to name a few, and played shows with The Plain White T's, Spitalfield and about a million other bands (I'm kind of too lazy to look them all up, there's a ton) not to mention they've done Warped Tour. I'd say that says something right there.
Deal's Gone Bad

If you're into ska/reggae/soul you'll probably love DGB. If you aren't, no, it's not mainstream music, but dare to expand your musical tastes. They're worth it! Todd's voice is so totally swoonworthy, too. Really, it's quite incredible. And I promise if you like their music, your life will never, ever be the same after seeing them live!
The Get Go

These guys are like the Chicago supergroup. They feature ex-Mest, Allister, Home Grown and Showoff members. They only formed back in January, so it's still kind of crazy to see all of these guys in a band together. But an awesome crazy!
Kill Hannah

I don't need to explain them right? They've been around forever-and I just love them more as time goes on. They actually just played as a back up band in a R. Kelly (more Chicago) music video featuring Kid Rock and Ludacris (and even Luda has Chicago roots). It may sound weird, but it's pretty cool.
The White Tie Affair

Love, love these guys. It's dancing music. I do not dance... but I love them anyway! It's the kind of music that gets stuck in your head for days on end. And they get all nice and dressed up for shows. It makes me smile =)
Shock Stars

This band features Stubhy from Lucky Boys Confusion on lead vocals and guitar, and JJ Flores who is like, a legendary producer in the House music scene, on keyboards (also producing and programming). They won the Last Band Standing contest, voted for by the listeners, to play at Lollapalooza after only being together a short time, and have played countless shows throughout Chicagoland ever since.
